The Hobart Fire Brigade Recreation Club was established on August 20, 1912, and quickly became a significant entity in the day-to-day social life of the Hobart Fire Brigade, organising dances and social events, and football and cricket matches.
Today the Club contributes to fire station life by providing recreational and sports equipment and organising social events for Hobart Fire Brigade Recreation Club members and our families.
On August 20, 2020, the Hobart Fire Brigade Recreation Club’s 108th Birthday, the Club commissioned the Old Kempton Distillery to fill five 20-litre casks with new-make whisky spirit with the intent of commemorating the Club’s 110th Anniversary exactly two years later in 2022.

The Club chose locally sourced port casks to mature the whisky, bringing notes of dark fruits, pantry spices and hints of dark chocolate. We decided that the best alcohol percentage for our whisky is 55%, co-incidentally, this is “110 proof”, and fitting for our 110th Anniversary.

This commemorative 110th Anniversary whisky is from one batch, making it unique to us, the Hobart Fire Brigade Recreation Club

Charity:

The Tasmanian Burns Unit based at the Royal Hobart Hospital is the state wide provider for children and adult patients that require specialised care by the burns multidisciplinary team.

Burns units provide specialist, multidisciplinary care in the management of burn injuries due to the complexity of the injuries and the high cost of treatment, expertise in wound management, specialist training for staff and requirement for long term scar management.

The Tasmanian Burns Unit also provides education and training, and collaborates with the community and industry groups on burns prevention and first aid.
