GLENALLACHIE CASK STRENGTH AGED 10 YEARS BATCH 1

Aged for 10 years in a combination of American oak, Pedro Ximénez sherry, Oloroso sherry, and virgin oak barrels. This 1st batch is a cask strength limited edition release with only 2000 cases available worldwide. Bottled at 57.1% ABV.

Billy Walker, The Master Distiller of Glenallachie, spends endless amounts of time in their warehouses sampling across the range of casks, with over 40,000 on site it's not a job for the faint hearted. However, it's certainly time well spent when the results of his endeavours are tasted. After sampling this vast range of casks Billy was keen to showcase Glenallachie bottled at natural strength.

Glenallachie distillery was built by Mackinlays in 1967 to meet the demands of its blends following an upturn in sales in the US. In its short history it has passed through the hands of Invergordon Distillers and Pernod-Ricard. During this period the focus was always on the provision of blends, with over 20 years between the first Mackinlay’s distillery bottlings of its single malt and the next official release from Chivas Brothers in 2005. Now in the hands of Billy Walker, Glenallachie is finally being pushed as an increasingly popular single malt brand since 2017.

Tasting notes:

Nose: Big notes of heather honey and toffee, with rose hip and spices tip-toeing in.

Taste: Honey, vanilla, toffee with a layer of rose hip, marmalade and Caribbean spices.

Finish: Lasting nutmeg and black pepper.
