Established by Vicki Delves in 2001 , the Women's Academy of Triathlon is a Women's only Company providing a wide variety of training sessions that are fully coached. Attention to detail, flexible training options, organisational excellence, fun , low cost triathlon and fitness coaching for women of all ages and abilities.
Vicki Delves has a raft of experience in both a theoretical and practical capacity. Vicki has a Bachelor of Education(majoring in Physical and Health Education) having taught Physical Education for 21 years, Principal Consultant of Online Curriculum for the Education Department and a writer of many projects such as Fundamental Movement Skills, FUNdamental Game Strategies, AFL Sports Education, Crime Stoppers, AFL Quiz, Protective Behaviours and Constable Care. Vicki has been a lecturer in Physical Education at Edith Cowan University.
Vicki is a Level 2 Triathlon coach and has completed her Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. She has recently completed a Diploma of Events. Vicki has been awarded many outstanding service awards such as DSR Triathlon Community Coach of the Year 2012, List Ambassador of the Year 2008 and Browne's EveryWoman of the Year Sports Award 2005.
Vicki and husband Gary owned and ran Bikeforce South Perth for 15 years and won Australian Franchisee of the Year in 2004 and West Australian Franchisee of the Year in both 2003 and 2004. Gary has extensive cycling knowledge in Bike fitting , Technical and mechanical knowledge plus has riden all disciplines of cycling. Gary won the prestigious 40 under 40 award in 2006.
The February course in 2015 was the 25th WAT course. The Women's Academy of Triathlon has run more Women's only courses than any other organisation.
- Over 3500 women have signed up to do WAT courses over the period of time.
- Over 150 women have done more than five courses
- Over 80 women have done more than ten courses
- Over 50 women have done more than twelve courses.
- Fifty women competed in the Busselton Half Ironman 2013
- Sixteen women competed in the Busselton Ironman 2010
- Women of ages, sizes and abilites have done the WAT course.
- Youngest to complete the course is sixteen and eldest is seventy five.
The Women's Academy of Triathlon has a great sense of community and Breast Cancer Care WA(formerly Breast Cancer Foundation WA) is the charity of choice for the Academy.
Over 30 Breast Cancer survivors have done the course and the charity continues to be a major focus of the course.
